The cruise brings the visitor through 200 year old canal locks and under cut stone bridges. Our commentary on board will describe the history of the canal and its association with the city’s many poets and writers including Patrick Kavanagh, Brendan Behan and WB Yeats. Towards the end of your cruise you will leave behind the narrow confines of the Canal and enter, under the lowest bridge on the network, into Grand Canal Dock. In its heyday, this expanse of water saw many ships arrive with coal and other essentials which would be loaded onto Canal Barges to be shipped on to the midlands of Ireland and reloaded with grain for export. This traffic continued up until the 1970s. Passengers will enjoy a delicious three course meal whilst gently meandering along a beautiful stretch of Dublin's Grand Canal.
