Cornode comprises three self-catering cottages set on the eastern shores of Lough Derg near Garrykennedy, County Tipperary. Fraoch Cottage is a single storey property with access to the adjacent private harbour and seating area. The idyllic location is a wonderful romantic hideaway and a great base for touring and exploring the countryside.
The four-star house is partially stone fronted, double glazed and has oil heating. It can sleep up to six people plus a baby in three bedrooms. There are two bathrooms, and linen and towels are provided.
At Fraoch Cottage, guests can relax in the spacious living and dining area, which features a floor-to-ceiling brick fireplace with solid fuel stove and wooden ceiling. The farmhouse-style kitchen allows for preparing meals with ease, as it has an electric cooker, microwave, dishwasher and refrigerator. There is also a utility room with washing machine, dryer, vacuum, iron and hairdryer.
The cottage is an ideal base for visiting Lough Derg, renowned for its course fishing, and for touring other highlights of the region, such as the Burren, Cliffs of Moher, Birr Castle Gardens, Damer House, Rock of Cashel, Holycross Abbey, the Hunt Museum, King John’s Castle and Bunratty Castle.
Local towns and villages are Garrykennedy, Portroe and Nenagh, which has a railway station, bus stop, banks and post office. Golf, bicycle hire, pitch and putt, swimming pool, tennis, children’s activity centre, heritage centre, cinema, shops, restaurants and supermarkets are also available.
