Watch: The Rock of Cashel

Kings, Saint Patrick and the oldest wall murals in Ireland. What about this for a rock star?

One of the most impressive medieval sites on the island of Ireland, the roofless Rock of Cashel was once the seat of the kings of Munster. In Cormac’s Chapel, images painted over 800 years are being coaxed back to life thanks to a painstaking restoration project. You’re in the footsteps of saints, too, as this is where King Aengus was baptised by Saint Patrick who mistakenly placed his crozier through the king’s foot. You’ll have a much nicer time. We promise.
