Ireland’s apps

As you pack your bags, don’t forget to pack some apps for your iPod, iPad or smartphone, too. There are tons of nifty little apps that’ll help you get the most from your trip to Ireland. Most of them are free, too – now how handy is that?

Discover Ireland App

It’s Ireland in your pocket! Now with just the tap of a screen, you can see what’s going on all over Ireland, in one easy to access place. Whether tourist or local, you’ll love our Discover Ireland app (link here!) that gives you up-to-date info on what’s happening, where to stay, places to eat and much more, no matter where you are. You’ll get an on-the-spot insight into what’s around every corner as well as easy to use maps and Augmented Reality. It uses GPS and is preloaded with listings on where to stay, what’s on and so much more. It’s like having your very own tourist guide living in your pocket! Available on both Apple and Android.

Visit Dublin App

The official Visit Dublin App will show you a whole new way to see the city, and a whole new way to use your phone. Swanky new “pointing technology” allows you to point your phone where you’re going and get all the info for what’s ahead. It can also guide you to your selected destination, and has audio descriptions for points of historical interest, daily updates of what’s happening in the city and special offers. Download it before you go and you can explore the city virtually. All of this for the cost of…nothing, it’s free.

Belfast Music

It’s true, the sounds of Belfast are sweeter than any other city, and we’ve got the Belfast Music App to prove it. The Music Heritage tour on the app will explain what we’re on about, showing where Belfast music legends came from and the venues that are still going. The Hall of Fame will show our legacy in names, and with the gig listings and news you can catch the next big thing in Belfast’s music halls. Did we mention it’s free?

Literary Belfast

Belfast is bursting with literary history, and the Literary Belfast App puts you right at the heart of the city’s bookish action. The News/Events section is updated with all things literary, including exhibitions and festivals taking place in Belfast. You can read the latest book or the hottest literary, comedy and talk review, as well as enjoying new releases and classics on the Belfast Reading List. Learn about the Belfast Through Writers’ Eyes tour where exceptional Northern Irish writers such as Seamus Heaney and Michael Longley share stories, anecdotes and readings to accompany you on an unforgettable journey. Or why not try the on-screen tour to lead your way around this unique and vibrant city. Another great app that doesn’t cost a penny.
