A multitude of fascinating dive sites exist off the North Down Coast. Clear waters teeming with life, a fleet of wrecks, mostly unspoilt, have a pioneering feel to them and many have yet to be explored. The visibility in Belfast Lough ranges from 3 to 5 metres and shallow to deep. Some 40 to 50 wrecks are available. Due to the long tradition of shipping in the Lough, it is not surprising that its bed is carpeted with wrecks of all shapes and sizes spanning the last 100 years. It has been referred to as the Scarpa Flow of Northern Ireland. Souvenir collectors may be interested to learn that the bell from the TIBERIA, a major liner, was raised only a few years ago. Some 400 named wrecks lie off the Northern Ireland Coast.
