Hedda Gabler, by Norwegian playwright Henrik Ibsen, will be performed at The Gaiety Theatre this March.
These are the only Irish dates for this production by the UK's National Theatre company after a sold-out run in London. It features Lizzy Watts in the title role, and is spearheaded by acclaimed Belgian director Ivo van Hove.
In the play, Hedda has just wed George, but she is already bored with her marriage. In her attempts to control and manipulate those around her, Hedda finds her own world disintegrating.
This is a new version of Hedda Gabler conceived by English playwright Patrick Marber, shorn of the traditional period trappings and given a more contemporary setting.
The National Theatre's take on this Ibsen masterpiece has won numerous rave reviews and you will undoubtedly lose yourself in the wonderful, dark world that this esteemed UK company has created for Hedda.
