Karl Blau was an eccentric presence on the margins of the American indie rock scene for nearly two decades before making his breakthrough in 2016, when he released an album of covers of country songs entitled, simply, Introducing Karl Blau.
The combination of familiar melodies, Blau’s deep, rich voice, and lush, soulful arrangements seemed to strike a chord with the public and it opened a whole new audience up to him. Since then Blau has dropped a new collection of his own material, Out Her Space, which has drawn further critical acclaim.
You’ll hear Karl Blau mix cover versions of the likes of Link Wray and Townes Van Zandt side-by-side with numbers from his own rich and eclectic back catalogue at this intimate full-band show in the cosy surroundings of The Workman’s Club.
