The teaSHED is a 50 seater coffee shop at Glencar Waterfall. Serving speciality teas, locally roasted coffee, delightful treats, freshly baked scones & bread. The teaSHED also stock locally produced arts & crafts and have adjoining public playpark.

The teaSHED is a coffee shop located beside the 50ft high Glencar Waterfall, approximately 11km west of Manorhamiton, and 12km East of Sligo in Co. Leitrim. While not the highest waterfall in the area, Glencar Waterfall is generally considered the most romantic and impressive. Formed by glaciers, Glencar Lake lies in the scenic Glencar Valley, which is worth visiting for the amazing scenery alone.

The teaSHED can comfortable seat over 50 people and is open 7 days a week from April to October, and open at weekends in Winter. It is also available for to book for events outside opening times. Check out the facebook page for more information.

The teaSHED serves speciality teas and locally roasted coffee along with freshly baked scones and bread, various desserts, choice of freshly made sandwiches, wraps, paninis, salads, homemade soup as well as stocking locally produced arts and crafts products. Gluten free options are available. A footbridge provides access from the waterfall carpark to the teaSHED and a public playground.

From the late 1800’s to early 1900’s the owners great-aunts ran a Tea House in Glencar. Photographs of the original tea house, the original visitor’s books and artefacts from this Tea House are on display in the teaSHED. Some of these photos were also used in a Lyons tea advert / packaging.
W. B. Yeats used to visit the waterfall and the old Siberry Tea House. Not surprisingly he found Glencar inspirational. He wrote about the fairies and changelings of Irish folklore in his poem, “The Stolen Child”, inspired by his passion for Irish mythology and the beauty of Glencar Waterfall.

“……….Come away, O human child! To the waters and the wild With a faery, hand in hand, For the world’s more full of weeping than you can understand. Where the wandering water gushes From the hills above Glen-Car, In pools among the rushes, That scarce could bathe a star,…..”
