Gaelforce West is the largest one day adventure race of its kind in the world. It is a multi sport adventure race involving cycling, running and kayaking.

The course of approximately 65 kilometres stretches from the stunning Glassilaun beach, south west of Killary Harbour to Westport. En route there are some significant obstacles to cross, including Killary Fjord itself and the famous holy mountain of Croagh Patrick. The event is designed for solo competitors but you can also run it will a friend or training partner. The course breakdown is as follows;
Stage 1: beach, trail and road run of 12km. Stage 2: kayaking across Killary Harbour of 1.6km. Stage 3: trail and road run of 3.5km. Stage 4: cycling of 32.5km. Stage 5: mountain run and hike of 4.5km. Stage 6: cycling of 12km.
Adventure racing is one of the fastest growing sports on earth and Ireland now joins Costa Rica, Borneo, the US and the UK with the establishment of Gaelforce West. Gaelforce West provides competitors with a significant personal challenge. You will get wet, tired, mucky and training for this race is a must.
