It’s time to get in the Christmas spirit! The Leopardstown Christmas Festival (Dec 26-29) will transform Ireland’s premier racecourse into a winter wonderland of racing thrills, fashion, music and glamour. So get ready to feel festive
This is Leopardstown, the highlight of the year’s racing calendar. So naturally, there’ll be plenty of high-octane racing action over the course of the four-day Leopardstown Christmas Festival. The Racing Post Day (Dec 26) kicks things off with the first of four National Hunt race days. The excitement continues into Paddy Power Day (Dec 27) with race after race keeping the buzz going. Next, the Lexus Chase (Dec 28) adds a dash of adrenaline to Ladies’ Day. Finishing of the racing antics will be the Istabraq Festival Hurdle (Dec 29). Place your bets early; this one’s going to be a belter!
Of course, it wouldn’t be a racing festival without Ladies Day (Dec 28). Glamorous ladies will be out in force to show off their winter gems in the hopes of winning the coveted ‘Best dressed’ title. This is sure to be one of the fashion and social events of 2013. Add in the extra glamour of the Lexus Chase race and that’s one potent recipe for a great day out.
It’s beginning to feel a lot like…
Hang on to those feel-good Christmas vibes for a few more days at Leopardstown. All sorts of festive treats lie in store. The Christmas Festival Restaurant has been created for one purpose: to dish out the finest and most festive meals imaginable. You can choose from a selection of festive specials such as the Winter Warmer meal or the St Stephen’s Day Luncheon.
A galloping Gathering
This year The Leopardstown Christmas Festival is a Gathering, too, which means it’s going to be the biggest and best festival yet. A live music concert (Dec 29) is planned, with none other than Finbar Furey and Mary Black set to entertain the racegoers.
As the final day of The Leopardstown Christmas Festival draws on, you’d imagine the party atmosphere evaporates slightly, right? Wrong!
This is 2013, the Year of The Gathering – a celebration of all things Irish, and we plan to finish off the year in style. In true Irish fashion, the final day of The Leopardstown Christmas Festival marks the beginning of the official New Year’s Eve Festival. One party rolling into another: magic.
NYE 2014 in Dublin is a whole other festival adventure…
A sure thing? You bet!
They say there’s no such thing as a ‘sure bet’ in the racing world. We have to disagree. Because if you’re looking for racing thrills, mixed with Christmas cheer and Gathering greatness, The Leopardstown Christmas Festival comes first every time. So who’s up for a flutter?
