You won't want to miss this whimsical weekend of storytelling and folklore with lectures, story swaps, walks and concerts in the welcoming Wild Atlantic Way village of Sneem.
The Sneem International Storytelling & Folklore Festival is a weekend of storytelling and folklore with lectures, story swaps, walks, and concerts.
The festival routinely attracts storytellers from around Ireland and the globe, including Scotland, Australia, America and Canada, making the festival truly international. With the aim of reviving the old tradition of storytelling, which was for centuries part of the fabric of life in the Iveragh Peninsula in South Kerry, the event provides a wide variety of different activities that are sure to get the imagination running wild.
Visitors can look forward to walks in the countryside with a stop off at an 18th-century stone barn for a storytelling session after tea and scones at the farmhouse. There will be adult and children's workshops, a walk around the village to hear local stories, and lectures, a Young Tellers concert (for 11-18 year olds) and lunchtime theatre.
Don't miss the hugely popular 'Story Swap' sessions, hosted by featured tellers over the weekend and where members of the public can come along to share and swap stories with each other.
Hospitality in Sneem is legendary and with this packed festival the weekend will be unforgettable.
