August Craft Month is the largest annual celebration of contemporary craft and the applied arts.

August Craft Month is the largest annual celebration of contemporary craft and the applied arts in Northern Ireland.

Co-ordinated by the team at Craft Northern Ireland, the sector leading body for the promotion and development of the design-led contemporary craft industry in NI, and with support from the Arts Council of Northern Ireland, 2017 marks our 11th year of August Craft Month.

Through partnerships with a range of galleries, museums, local councils, craft organisations, arts centres, universities, heritage organisations and individual makers across Northern Ireland, this year’s programme features more than 200 events and activities aimed at attracting all ages and interests. Craft NI is encouraging people to get away from their computer screens and work with their hands this August.

Event Programme
This year’s programme kicks off at the launch of the Film Makers exhibition, which presents new work from six contemporary makers, created in response to heritage footage from Northern Ireland Screen’s Digital Film Archive. The exhibition opens at Mid Antrim Museum, The Braid on July 27.

To find out the full range of events taking place in every corner of Northern Ireland from exhibitions, festivals, workshops, craft fairs, artisan markets and craft trails highlighting the best in ceramics, glassmaking, jewellery making, textiles, wood turning and willow making - visit www.augustcraftmonth.com and celebrate craft your way this summer.
