Expect a humorous and ebullient exhibition at the Butler Gallery in celebration of the artists Fischli and Weiss, and exploding bottles of white spirit and spinning garbage bags.

The Butler Gallery in Kilkenny is a real find for art-lovers. Month after month, year after year, organisers mount exhibitions that give rise to complex thoughts and feelings.

This screening of The Way Things Go by Fischli and Weiss is no different. Settle in to the 30 minute film and enjoy the visual feast.

The premise is quite simple - household and industrial objects get caught up in a chain reaction, like a domino chain except with bin bags and dirty tyres.

At once hilarious and thoughtful - harnessing what might be described today as ‘upcycling’ by recycling rubbish for art, The Way Things Go is an inspiring film. That’s why, in honour of its 30th anniversary, the Butler Gallery has commissioned some of Ireland’s finest artists including Isabel Nolan, Nevan Lehart, Jonathan Mayhew and Aideen Barry to produce an artistic homage to The Way Things Go.
