Shaw's Lake is well known for floating line fishing on the edge of darkness. It has prolific hatches of sedge and buzzers, which the trout thrive on. Anglers fishing with sunk lines, lures, flies with tinsel, gold heads or beads will find at times the small perch can become annoying. The good head of wild brown trout ensure the lake is worth fishing from the first day of the season until the last.
General access is good along the shore from almost the full perimeter of the lake but extreme care should be taken in the area of the quarry on the SW aspect of the lake.
The lake has a six trout limit and is restricted to fly fishing only.
A DCAL licence is required (£17). Armagh Angling Club permits are £15 per day (4 fish limit) or £100 per season (£120 for new members), Junior members £20.
