Set on an historic, working farm, Belan Lodge is just the place for a unique, relaxing holiday near Athy, County Kildare. There are four self-catering apartments available and each is furnished to the highest standard to ensure a comfortable stay.
The Francis Richard is a stunning 4 star two bedroom lodge in a converted courtyard building here at Belan, which was formerly a cattle fodder and equipment store. It is named after Francis Richard Shackleton, from nearby Kilkea, Brother of Artic Explorer Ernest, Grandson of Corn Miller Ebenezer who operated the farm here at Belan, and who is strongly rumoured to have been involved in the mysterious disappearance of The Irish Crown Jewels.
The Lodge has a spacious bedroom, with a double and single bed, a bathroom and landing, and a master bedroom opening onto a verandah, overlooking a large garden area, and stairwell into the courtyard, upstairs, and a large kitchen/dining area, bathroom, toilet and hallway downstairs. It has been decorated to a very high standard, and must be seen to be fully appreciated.
