Travellers desiring a peaceful getaway with a spot of fishing thrown in should look no further than the Lakeside Cottages situated on the shores of Lake Inchiquin, near Corofin, County Clare. The two cottages overlook the River Fergus, which enters the lake just 50m from the doorstep.
Each cottage is equipped to a four-star standard, so after a long day of fishing or touring the region, it is a cosy home-from-home to return to. Both have their own private entrance and ample parking, and sleep four to five people in two bedrooms, one of which is ensuite with electric shower. There is also a separate bathroom.
Downstairs there is a large open-plan living room and kitchen. The kitchen includes dishwasher, washing machine, dryer, oven and hob, refrigerator and microwave, while the living room contains an open fire and colour TV. There is oil-fired central heating included in the rental cost and fuel is provided for the open fire. Bed linen and towels are also included.
Near the cottages there is a 200-year-old farmhouse. There is a row boat for guests to use for either a spot of fishing or a leisurely row on the lake. Guests are welcome to take a walk by the river or up the ‘Dunain’, a hill on the farm that affords beautiful views of the lake. The location is also perfect as a touring base for the many attractions of North Clare, such as the Burren, Cliffs of Moher, Aillwee Cave, and Lahinch Beach and Golf Course.
