Would you enjoy a quiet break in a detached farmhouse-style country home minutes’ walk from a long white sandy beach, a homely pub and a great golf course? If so, The Garden three bedroom house in Portsalon County Donegal is for you.
The Garden was built in 1999, as part of a discrete, high-quality development on the shores of Lough Swilly, County Donegal. It is south facing with spectacular views over Portsalon Beach, Ballymastocker Bay, Knockalla Mountain, and across to Inishowen.
The architecture of the site successfully blends traditional Irish rural building styles with modern construction techniques. The house can sleep seven guests and has white washed walls, a slate roof, pitch pine floors, exposed roof beams and a cast iron stove. There is gas central heating throughout and a gas fired stove in the front room. Full insulation technology and double-glazing ensure the house is kept warm and draught free. Water is heated on-demand providing a constant and plentiful supply.
The living room boasts sliding French-windows that lead to the patio, with outdoor furniture and wonderful sea views. The large kitchen is fully fitted with quality units, a dining table and chairs. There is a double ensuite bedroom on the ground floor and another double room, as well as a room with a double and a single bed upstairs.
There is a small shop/pub/restaurant combination, that is probably very similar in its appearance and atmosphere now as on the day it opened, exactly 137 steps from door of house. It serves an excellent pint of Guinness by a peat fire, sells bread and milk and will send you on your way with the best fish and chips in the North West. The beautiful white sand beach of Portsalon is no more than a two minute walk away. And Portsalon Golf Club is five minutes walk away.
