Mayo's weekly traditional Irish music summer show 'The Legend of Gráinne Mhaol' has returned to Hotel Westport for its sixth season this summer. This superb summer show will be running every Wednesday night at 9pm up until the end of September. This mesmerising and energetic traditional Irish music summer show is based on the real-life story of the legendary Irish Pirate Queen Grace O' Malley or Gráinne Mhaol. This powerful and passionate celebration of Irish music, song and dance is an inspiring epic, reliving the voyage of the iconic Irish legend Gráinne Mhaol throughout history. Pirate, chieftain, lover and mother in 16th century Ireland Gráinne Mhaol is an iconic figure in Irish folklore. The Gráinne Mhaol spectacular summer show at Hotel Westport contains a wealth of talented musicians and dancers from all over the west of Ireland. Apart from the magnificent fiddle player David Doocey and renowned balladeers James Kilbane and Monica Brennan, the show also features World Champion dancers Michael Cunningham, Liam Scanlon, Roisin Timoney and Pollyanna Guedes. All-Ireland champion banjo player Mícheál Healy and his sister Sinéad as well as Shane McGowan are all onboard again this year for another magical and mythical voyage into Mayo.
