That is just ridiculous, but I am not surprised.

We are going through something similar with Casey's in Castlebar. In November 2005 there was an accident and Hibernian (our insurance) said that if we wanted a replacement car during the repairs we had to go to one of their approved garages. At the time and for our location that was Caseys. The car is a Japanese Subaru Import. We had to wait several months for them to get the parts in. My husband even had to find the parts himself after the garage took so long. Finally got parts in, they carried out the repair except for one small bit. It's not noticeable from the outside, so wasn't a problem. They promised to get the right part in and get in touch when they could do the repair. It's been over two years now and we still haven't heard anything.

The husband rings them all the time and gets the same old crap each time. Have also been onto Hibernian who act concerned and try to resolve it, but then they get nowhere with the garage either and it's just left again.

It's a disgrace that they are still endorsing this garage when someone can't get a repair finished over two years later. Unbelievable.

Unbelievable. They might get away with this rubbish "We would ask all involved to acknowledge that a motor car is a complex piece of machinery with many parts interlinked" if the problem was in the engine, but we're talking about a seat belt!

I'd suggest consumers be very wary of taking their car to a garage that has trouble fixing a seat belt, god only knows how long it would take them to fix a real problem.
