Hi Conor,
As my husband is Italian, and nothing better than the taste of true Italian organic tomatoes will do...,we do our best to ship our tomatoes each year direct from his family in Italy. Often we run out of these preserved home made Italian tomatoes and must resort to the options available here. To date we have yet to find anything better than the Roma Organic tomatoes. They are the closest thing to the 'real deal' and I'm delighted you have rated them with 4 stars. I recommend them to everyone who asks me how I make my sauce taste so good !!

Hi Conor
We are the importers of Fratelli Longobardi Pomodori Pelati (Italicatessen Ltd). I really appreciated our tomatoes scored very high in quality as our mission is to bring quality products to Ireland; however, I would like to point out that we sell our tinned tomatoes with a Reccomended Retail Price of €0.80 (this is to small shops).

Sorry Conor, that'll teach me to scan read articles! :-(

My experience, like yours, is that their stuff is of mixed quality. For example, Aldi do two carton fruit juice ranges (both Del Rivo?), the concentrate stuff is questionably even drinkable, but the not from concentrate is really nice.

Hi Gavin

This week I did include a product from Aldi - cheap but not as cheap as the Tesco Value product. I do try and include Lidl and Aldi as often as I can and love it when I find a product from either that is either as good or nearly as good as considerably more expensive products. Lidl parma ham is excellent and much cheaper then what you get in M&S while the mozzerella cheese in both Lidl and Aldi are great too and incredibly cheap. Mind you, some of their stuff isn't great. If you ever happen across a Lidl or Aldi product that you think deserves a mention let me know.

It would make these Value4Money reviews more interesting to see a product compared from the shelves of the cheaper supermarkets such as Lidl or Aldi. The perception seems to be that their products are cheaper but inferior. It would be interesting to know if either of these assertions is really true.
