We may complain about our airlines, but Swissair is something else. I went to book a one way fare to Zurich on Swissair, as a return was not needed. It was an eye-watering €661, or nearly three times a return flight. It is possible to fly to Australia for less than that. On enquiry, the company helpfully pointed out that I could book the return leg (€120) and not use it. In other words, a surcharge of €120 for a one way flight. I can only assume that the Swiss government has a policy of actively discouraging tourists. Irish airlines, all is forgiven.
