I managed to catch some feedback programme on BBC World at the weekend and this was included as one of the main complaints received from viewers. My jaw dropped at how teeth-grindingly awful it was.

The BBC spokesperson described it as an attempt to engage people at a stage in the coverage where viewership tends to drop off. Sounds like they were just bored then and made it up on the spot.

I’m grinding my teeth as I write this.

Jesus Christ. The BBC has sunk to a new low.

Jeremy Vine has form for this to be honest.

    one week after me!

You’ve no idea how surreal it was live.

wasn’t reported on points of view either… although it’s presented by Jeremy Vine.

73man - I don’t know if I’ve said this before, but I want to get “I’m crying as a I write this” t-shirts done. ALthough, it would be somewhat of an insult to my colleague.

Una - Exactly. I first saw it on Have I Got News for You, and had to be picked up off the floor afterwards.

Adrian - And they did so, it seems, after getting higher than they’ve ever got before.

    Ivor - Cripes.

B’dum - You mean Barry Took isn’t presenting Points of View anymore?

I thought Wogan used to present it?

I tuned in especially to see if Jeremy Vine would start complaining about his own disaster. Mind you what else is on during a Sunday afternoon?

Really hope Charlie Brooker gets at it at some point.

I watched the elections and was thinking that given the most of those watching were electoral nerds like me they didn’t need this sort of nonsense to engage them. One thing that was annoying me was hat they didn’t give local % share of the vote, instead it was just seats won.

This farce was like they had taken the operating logic of The Word on Friday’s on Ch4 back in the day which was that their target audience was those who had come home tanked up from a night in from the pub.
