Dear RTÉ…

Filed under: RTE, Blogs, TV — Shane @ 2:03 pm

If you decide to have a “Lost” blogger - you know, someone who can marvel over and tease out the myriad clues and red herrings and revelations - then it’s probably not great to ask someone who opens by admitting:

As this week’s ‘island’ blogger I first of all have to admit that I’m not the biggest ‘Lost’ buff in the world.

She pretty much missed the whole point about the Jin bits, which were clearly a flashback and not a flash forward. I thought that was pretty obvious by the end. I also thought it was very well executed, as was the final scene with Sun and Hurley.

She also includes Ben as one of the 6 that made it off the island. For what it’s worth I think this is a little hasty, as I’d imagine that he’d like to keep his prescence secret outside the island.

Sorry, I’ve gone off on a tangent. I didn’t mean to nerd up your post.

And ruin my reputation? No, thank you.

Still, if she can’t grasp what went on during the latest episode, perhaps she’d be better off blogging about some other show.

I thought they masked the Jin flash quite while (though the comparatively big mobile phone did suggest it was in the past), such that I nearly thought he had remarried when he said he was only two months married. Ben can’t be on the Oceanic Six as he wasn’t on the plane, nor would Desmond. Sun, Hugo, Jack, Sayid, Kate are five of the Sixers. Babies don’t count, so Aaron isn’t a Sixer. We have one more to be revealed.

We seem to be forgetting about the person in the coffin at the start of the last episode of the last series who was known to Jack and Kate. Though were that person a known Oceanic Sixer there would have been loads of press in attendance, so I’m staking the one in the coffin as Michael. The world doesn’t know he and Walt made it off the island.

Sorry, was just thinking that ‘nerd away’ might have been meant specifically for Brock. Also, we should probably have a spoiler alert for people in other times zones.

Sorry Dan, I’ve reread my first post and it may come across that I thought the Jin thing was obvious. I didn’t. It was very well masked, which provided a nice ‘oh!’moment.

The flashback/flash forward thing was very cleverly masked in the episode, but it was clear by the end of the episode what was going on. That piece was very clearly written by someone who doesn’t follow the show at all.

Dan, the thing about the person in the coffin is that they had to be famous enough for their death to warrant a mention in the paper. This makes it likely that the person was one of the oceanic six as apart from Charlie and maybe Hugo none of the other losties are famous enough to warrant a mention in the paper.

I reckon the person in the coffin will be Locke, who it will turn out is the final member of the Oceanic Six

They’re still on the island, right?

Jim, you’re trying to replicate Dealga and his obligatory ‘Creep’ wisecracks on your Radiohead posts, right?

Tonight’s episode in the States is all about where Michael/Kevin has been. Love this show! Please come back to it all you lost Lost souls!

Why were RTE so vague about when it was going to return? Surely the network in the states has a defined date for when they will broadcast the next episode.

Last night’s episode was good, up until the ending. Then again, the culling of unimportant and one dimensional characters is always good.

Brock - I don’t know, but it is due back on Sky on the 27th of April, so should be on RTE the next night.

Thanks Shane. Why bother looking it up myself when I can just get you to do it for me?
