Indeed fair play to him for his oscar win, I’ve never been a fan of the Frames or Glen’s music but he’s probably not the bollox he comes across as when he makes comments about Ireland like that. I’ve always found that its kind of an artists right to choose what criticisms are begrudging to them. If its not something that they agree with they can simply say ‘begruders’ and paint the Irish in that light and people go along with it. Its harder for the person on the other end to get their point across one they have been painted in that way. I don’t see any difference between a dolled up neice who doesnt need all that make up and a talanted musician who doesn’t need all that resentment towards a country that has supported him and nourished him, he forgets, everyones a critic, but most people are dj’s so take the good with the bad.

What a magnificent insight into Ireland today. I thing we should be grateful to Glen for telling it as it is! I have studied sociology, and this guy would make a fine university lecturer!

I can’t believe the begrudgery of a lot of Irish people, why is this necessary? What did he say that was so bad? I don’t think he offended anyone, and he shouldn’t be called a prick for having a genuine opinion. I wouldn’t blame him if he left here of he’s sick of it. Freedom of speech people, oh and a small thing called respect.

That article was a hatchet job. I met glen before a gig years ago and he was sound and down to earth. Anyway he’s made his place in history now, who will remember the begrudgers when theyre gone?!! : )

Love the frames and so proud of glen and marketa. I think people should shut up complaining about him and listen to what he’s saying..it makes sense.

You know I’m extremely proud of him and I wept when he accepted the oscar - what an achievement - have been a big frames fan for YEARS and I cannot think of an artist more deserving of an Oscar - the guy is a genius…if you do not own a frames album then go out and buy one or all of them or get swell season - just out of this world! Well done Glen and Marketa - eff the begrudgers!
