It's hard to put my finger on it. I put a great deal of it down to the canned laughter. For example; "I'm disabled" was said at least 4 times to increasing levels of laughter when it wasn't funny the first time.

Now, even though the 'lazy Irish' quip by the English fella was funny I found the rest of it to be a bit hit and miss. I will grant that my view is probably a bit skewered by the fact that two of the episodes I saw in series one were of 'Leave it to Mrs. O'Brien' quality.

Linehan's previous output warrants patience so I'll report back in a few weeks. For now here's something I do find funny:

Brock, We're all consenting adults here. Anything in particular about it that left you cold, or was it just not funny?

Peep Show is quite possibly the best comedy of the millenium so far.

Would I be offending folks if I say that I didn't find The IT Crowd funny on Friday night? Aside from the bit where your man was slagging off the Irish. That was gas.

Adam, I agree with you on Nathan Barley. It was vicious but brilliant in short paragraphs, but not so good when stretched into a six-part script. I admit to never seeing the TVGoHome show, although it doesn't sound like I missed too much.

Oh my... that could be something very special!

I wasn't disappointed with Morris' bit in The IT Crowd, in fact as part of a show that I really didn't like his part was probably the best... that said I've seen ep1 of series 2 and it was quite good - better than what I'd seen in s1 anyway.

I was disappointed with Nathan Barley, though, I thought that was far more miss than hit. Nice idea and I loved most of TVGoHome but given that it was a site created to lampoon TV it really didn't work to transfer one of its characters to TV... indeed the short-lived TVGoHome sketch show was very poor, except for Inspector BumHat.
