Is that a new song from the National? And also Wolf Parade, is their a new album on the way???
Comment by Enda | April 28, 2008 at 10:20 amEnda - National tune is a cover version of a track by Caroline Martin - http://www.myspace.com/carolinemartinsmalldog - which is taken from their forthcoming “Viriginia EP”/”A Skin, A Night” DVD.
New Wolf Parade album is called “Kissing the Beehive” and is released in June.
Comment by Jim Carroll | April 28, 2008 at 10:27 amAlmost don’t want to listen out Wolf Parade’s new track as with the last album none of the songs “made sense” outside of the album. But this track is fantastic, cannot stop humming it.
I don’t think I could be any more excited for a release than this. “Apologies…” is arguably the best album of the decade… and certainly the best indie rock release in eons.
Comment by Steve K | April 28, 2008 at 11:09 amDuchess Says are bleedin’ rapid! Picked the album up at the weekend. “Rabies (Baby’s Got The)” is an early favourite. Great title, great tune.
Comment by JD | April 28, 2008 at 12:05 pmjim, is that czars song new??
Comment by planet | April 28, 2008 at 12:24 pmi have ‘goodbye’, ‘the ugly people.,.,’ and ’sorry i made you cry’ but haven’t heard of that track.
Steve K - one of the best live bands i’ve seen in the last few years too
jim - lovin’ the Duchess Says album. they’re playing in Dublin on May 13, supporting Octopus Project at the Sugar Club.
planet - it’s track number 2 on the excellent “Before….But Longer” album (from 2000). Sadly, The Czars appear to be no more.
Comment by Jim Carroll | April 28, 2008 at 12:25 pmThanks. That was actually what put me on to them in the first place! That is some week BTW - National & Battles to follow.
Comment by JD | April 28, 2008 at 12:38 pmFoals eh? Did you go back to it in the end? What is your opinion of it? ‘Tis better than your beloved Vampire Weekend Jimbo.
Comment by Pedro | April 29, 2008 at 2:01 pmPedro - really like it, that “Heavy Water” tune is quality. Still, Vampire Weekend is the one for me right now. My fave album of the year so far so shoot me.
Comment by Jim Carroll | April 29, 2008 at 2:02 pmJim,
That new Notwist album is dead good, no? Actually the first one of theirs I’ve heard and I am impressed.
Still loving Lidell too I see. Great stuff - Jim is my favourite album of the year so far.
