Great to see This Will Destroy You in there, Jim. Their gig in Whelans last friday was incredible. An hour of sublime aural battery but there is real depth and emotion there too. Amazing band and nice guys also.

Pretty pissed off I missed Daedelus considering I as about 40 foot away. Heard him soundcheck, sounded superb.

That latest EP is his best stuff yet. Hope the album is as good.

Was at the gig on Sat and thought the Ting Tings were good- wasnt expecting a long set from them since they have only released the couple of singles. Some great catchy songs there though so wasnt complaining- Katie easy on the eye as well;-)

Did think Cap Pas Cap were excellent though- or as I had texted into the show ‘pretty damn good’! Have been listening to their ep the last few months and it was the first time seeing them live.

As for The Do- I have been raving about them since the last visit to France. Great album ‘A Mouthful’- some very catchy tunes there and think you can stream them from their official site. http://www.amouthful.fr/
Alas they are only touring France at the moment.

daedelus… was UNREAL!!!! defo contender for gig of the year. and he’s a blooming nice chap too

mate was talking to him for a bit after and he said that he was going to do a more mellow hip hop set, but that quickly went out the window after the reaction he got from the crowd.. mixed and mashed everything from gentle hip hop beats to really heavy electronica.. last time i sweated that much at a gig was roni size a few years ago in spirit

The rest of The Do album is quite good too - but the singer’s voice is a bit too whiny and kooky for me. (BTW the new Camille album is disappointing)

The Do, The Dodos and The Dodoz are all touring Europe in May and June. (In Nijmegen in the Netherlands, The Do play on the night after The Dodos, at the same venue!). They’ll probably all end up playing the same summer festival…

Peter - you have restored my faith in On The Record readers and proved yourself yet again to be a gentleman with impeccable taste.

Picked up a copy of “The rubaiyat…” a few weeks ago and have played it to death. Amazing stuff.

No word on the Daedelus gig in Dublin - great album though

its a throw up between afro harping or the rubaiyat of dorothy ashby for my favourite ashby album but myself when young is definitely her best song..any word on dublin daedelus gig, he brought the house down in limerick…

Actually, theres also a French band called The Do who are quite fine too - well, that track “On My Shoulders” is quite fine.
