Clonaslee is a picturesque, 18th-century village situated in the foothills of the Slieve Bloom Mountains in County Laois. It sits on the famous Slí Dála, or Munster Way, the great highway that Irish legend dates back to the reign of the Irish High Kings.
The Slieve Bloom Mountains are one of the most popular attractions for visitors to County Laois. With numerous walking trails, beautiful waterfalls, ancient geological sites and stunning scenery, it is a superb location for a bit of walking.
The Clonaslee Trailhead marks the beginning of several walking trails. Walks from here bring travellers through lush woodlands and over flowing rivers, and passed several places of interests, including the ruins of Coolnamoney Castle, the Ricketts Rocks waterfall and Brittas House.
