Perched on a hill in the Kilkenny countryside, the award-winning Wallslough Village offers spectacular views of the rural southeast and a beautiful natural spring fishing lake.
Wallslough Village is comprised of eight self-catering holiday cottages, including two pre-famine stone cottages, which have been carefully renovated. The cottages are thatched and boast a four-star rating.
Angling in the local spring lake is free for guests. It is stocked with coarse fish, including carp (common, coy, mirror and ghost), rudd, large goldfish and eel. Locals and angling clubs regularly visit, drawn by the peaceful setting and rich wildlife. The lake is home to many bird species, including coots, moorhens, swans, herons and several duck breeds.
Kilkenny in addition has two rivers, the Suir and the Nore. You can purchase angling permits for these rivers locally. Lessons can also be arranged with local anglers.
Wallslough Village offers both the peaceful solitude of the countryside and the exciting buzz of the city. Just 3km from Kilkenny City, it is a great location where guests have access to a wide range of activities. In addition to the many nearby restaurants, pubs and shops, you will find a bowling alley, a swimming pool complex, playgrounds, a cinema, a driving range, an open farm, karting and a reptile zoo. Golf courses and tourist attractions such as Kilkenny Castle and Dunmore limestone caves are also within easy reach.
The cottages are open all year round (365 days) and are available for full weeks and mid-week and weekend breaks.
