Equine Trails offers horseback trekking on the magnificent grounds of Borris House, the ancestral home of the High Kings of Leinster. Located just outside the village of Borris in south County Carlow, the estate offers spectacular scenery with over 650 acres of parkland and woodland fringed by the River Barrow, a mountain river that runs through the grounds and views of both Mount Leinster and Mount Brandon.
This excellent trekking experience allows you to spend quality time away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Horses and ponies at Equine Trails are suitable for both novice and experienced riders, and all rides are accompanied by a fully qualified instructor. Individual tuition is available for novice riders along with specialised training in trekking and cross-country riding.
Borris is a handsome Georgian village on the Carlow/Kilkenny border at the foot of the Blackstairs Mountains. It is well known for its access to Mount Leinster, fishing on the River Barrow and the local Borris Golf Club.
Treks can be one or two hours. Please arrive 15 minutes before the appointed time to allow for rider assessment and instruction. Half-hour rides can be arranged for young riders or first timers. All rides must be booked in advance. To save time, the booking form may be completed and returned before appointments are confirmed. Equine Trails is approved by the Association of Irish Riding Establishments.
