On the famous Wicklow Way walk, the 118-bed Glendalough International Youth Hostel is situated in the middle of the National Park, next to the renowned “monastic city” of Glendalough in the Valley of the Two Lakes.
The 118-bed Glendalough Youth Hostel is situated in the National Park and is surrounded by stunning scenery. It is part of the Irish Youth Hostel Association, which emphasises safety and security in budget accommodation for youth travellers and groups. Our manager, Andy will make every effort to ensure your visit to the area is one to remember and ensure you will want return again.
The hostel was extended during the 1980s from a local lodge (known as Swiss Cottage) which lay in between the ancient monastic city and the double lake of the valley.
Our Glendalough Hostel has become one of our most popular hostels due to its prime location near the Wicklow National Park and the world-famous Monastic site. The area is great for walking due to the 9 Way-Marked trails in the valley which range from 45 minutes to 4 hours. Heritage hunters are also attracted by the rich history of the round towers, churches and deserted mines which are found in the valley. The hostel itself is a two-story wheelchair-friendly building which can accommodate guests in a variety of en suite rooms that surround an enclosed courtyard. It has a well-equipped self-catering kitchen and dining room.
For groups of 10 or more, meals are available at reasonable prices. Parking is free for guests, as is bed linen. There is also a lounge with open fire and games.
Guests return year after year to this hostel due to its unique location, cosy atmosphere and wealth of exploration routes nearby. This hostel is open all year round.
