Slieve Elva Farmhouse B&B is the family home of Gerry& Aoife Swords. If you are looking for B&B accommodation in the West of Ireland, to get away from the hustle & bustle of daily life, or you need a base while you explore all that Co.Clare has to offer, from The Burren, The Cliffs of Moher or the Aran Islands to Hill Walking, Pony Trekking, Cycling or Surfing, then our B&B, near the famous match-making town of Lisdoonvarna, is the ideal country retreat. Recommended by the Guide de Routard and The New York Times.
A “Home from Home” is how we like to describe our B&B. from our cosy guest tv lounge with turf burning fire to our guest bedrooms, which are en suite, spacious and comfortable, we hope that you will unpack your bags and enjoy a relaxing stay.
We pride ourselves on our fresh, locally sourced cooking. Breakfast in the conservatory dining room is an important part of your stay at Slieve Elva Farmhouse and, after you have made your selection from our varied breakfast menu, you will have an unhurried and fulfilled start to your day.
Slieve Elva Farmhouse is ideally located for touring the well known(and the less well know) attractions of this part of the West.
The Burren is a walker’s paradise with plenty of green roads that criss-cross over the countryside. Spectacular views of the Aran Islands and the “Twelve Pins” n Connemara can be enjoyed just minutes from our home. We supply maps and information on local walks.
The Burren in North Clare is renowned for its unusual landscape and its rich and varied flora & fauna. As a result of a unique combination of factors, Artic and Alpine plants grow side by side. The distinctive landscape includes bare limestone pav ements, caves, seasonal lakes and one of the most dramatic coastlines in Ireland-The Cliffs of Moher. Just 30 minutes by ferry and you can experience the beauty of The Aran Islands.
The area is also very well know for its archaeological sites, the best know monument being The Polnabrone Dolmen. Also close by are The Aillwee Caves with the Birds of Prey demonstrations on daily.
