ireland.com scores on respect

Ireland.com, the website operated by The Irish Times, has been ranked second in an index that measures how well companies treat their customers online.

Hewlett-Packard was ranked top of the Ireland online customer respect index, which was prepared by the Irish-based Web marketing firm Elucidate.

Ms Deirdre Veldon, editor of ireland.com, said: "This survey result is a real measure of the importance we have attached to our online customer service, aprticularly since we launched subscription products. Ireland.com hopes to further improve performance in this area with a new customer care service opening later this month." Overall, the survey found Ireland's leading firms fell significantly behind US firms in how they treat customers for Web transactions.
