ireland.com records huge growth in traffic figures

The Irish Times website, ireland.com recorded 25.5 million page impressions and had more than 2.3 million individual users in May 2002, according to recently released figures from ABC Electronic Audit.

Originally launched in 1994, the Irish Times website, ireland.com, is Ireland's leading online news and information service. Since 1994, no other Irish media outlet has provided the range of quality information and content that ireland.com presents daily.

As Ireland's most trusted news source, it is devoted to providing users with up-to-the-minute, engaging and interactive coverage of news and events. Commenting on the latest figures, ireland.com's editor, Ms Deirdre Veldon said that "we believe we're offering quality content to our readers. They read our site regularly because they trust our content."

Interest in the site is stronger than ever as ireland.com introduces a subscription charge for access to premium content on the site. The subscription fee applies to the premium news service, comprising The Irish Times, the Breaking News service, a fully searchable archive of newspaper articles dating back to 1996 and micro-sites including, sport, technology and business.
