General What is Digital Edition? The Digital Edition is an exact electronic copy of The Irish Times newspaper in the format of the print issue. It looks the same as the printed edition and has additional interactive features such as a search facility, bookmarking tools and the following SmartNavigation features: Table of Contents: Section by section list of articles Article Text View Article Jumps: Quick link to the rest of the article Article Printing Instant Translation: Ten major foreign languages available When is today's paper available to download? Each day's digital edition is available by 6am GMT each morning. Can I access Irish Times back issues? Yes, back issues of the Irish Times dating back to May 2004 are available to purchase. As part of term subscriptions, 30 days of Digitial Edition archives are available. Using your Digital Edition account How will I receive my issues? The Digital Edition is available to view online at www.ireland.com/digitaledition or offline by using the PressReader, which is also available at the same address. Viewing the Digital Edition online requires no additional software and it is compatible with Windows and Macintosh systems. To install the PressReader for offline reading or to download the newspaper after the PressReader has been installed, please click on disk icon in the toolbar at the bottom of the page. What is the PressReader? The PressReader is a platform for offline reading. The PressReader allows you to download publications to up to three computers. To install the PressReader, please click on the disk icon in the toolbar at the bottom of the page. Two system requirements for PressReader installation are: Your computer operating system must be Windows 2000 or Windows XP. You must have free Adobe Reader 7.0.5 (or higher) or the commercially-available Acrobat Professional 7.0.5 (or higher) installed. If you do not have either one of these installed, or if your installed version is earlier than 7.0.5, please obtain the latest version by visiting www.adobe.com How long does it take to download the PressReader? The PressReader download size is 9MB. We recommend a Broadband Internet Connection of at least 128 kbps to download the PressReader. Can I search the Digital Edition? To search for a word(s) in the newspaper click on the Search tab on the right hand side of the online edition and enter your search query. At present it is not possible to perform a search in the PressReader. Can I print the Digital Edition? Yes, you can print the publication using the print icon in the toolbar at the bottom of the screen. Payments & Charges What purchasing options do I have? We offer varying subscription options, including a single copy for Eur1.60 and an annual subscription for Eur170. The frontpage of the most recent issue is available without registration/subscription. Payments are automatically renewed upon expiry (with the exception of one-week and single/back copy purchases). How can I pay for the Digital Edition? You may pay for your subscription online by credit/debit card (Visa, Visa Electron, Maestro, Laser, Switch, Solo and JCB). Where do I find the link for a free trial? A link to register for a 3-day free trial is available on the left hand side of the Digital Edition homepage at www.ireland.com/digitaledition Alternatively, click on any page other than The Irish Times Digital Edition frontpage and you will be directed to the sign-in page. Click 'Subscribe' under 'New user' and complete the required fields to initiate your one-time, free 3-day trial. How do I check my account payment status? Click on the 'My Account' icon in the top right hand corner of the screen. After signing in click on 'Payment history'. You can also print your credit/debit card receipt there. How can I cancel my Digital Edition subscription? If you need to cancel your term subscription to The Irish Times Digital Edition, please send an email to the Customer Support Team at irishtimes@newspaperdirect.com at least two business days before your current subscription is scheduled to renew. We will immediately process the cancellation and send you a confirmation for your records.
